Ericsson, Huawei win TeliaSonera LTE contracts

Scandinavian telco TeliaSonera has awarded Ericsson and Huawei their first commercial LTE contracts.

Ericsson will roll out a network across Stockholm, Sweden, while Huawei has contracted to supply its solution in Oslo, Norway. Both networks will launch in 2010.

Ericsson will supply LTE radio base stations, a packet core network and mobile backhaul. It will manage the network in the early stages of operation.

"The new 4G network will do for broadband what mobile telephony did for voice," Ericsson said.

Huawei said it would provide LTE base stations, core network, OSS and systems integration and support.
