Ericsson sees more market share after Alcatel-Lucent merger

Ericsson sees a potential to increase its US market share after the merger between Alcatel and Lucent Technologies, an Associated Press report said.
Ericsson CEO Carl-Henric Svanberg, quoted by the Associated Press, said some US operators could start looking for an alternative supplier to prevent the merged company from becoming too dominant.
Lucent is the biggest supplier of telecom equipment to large US operators such as Verizon Communications and AT&T. Alcatel, on the other hand, is in the No. 2 spot in important areas.
'Now they need a new alternative,' Svanberg said.
