Ericsson wins Aussie broadband supply deal

Ericsson had won an order from Vodafone in Australia for a national broadband roll-out, a Reuters report said. In effect, Ericsson will expand and modernise Vodafone's national network. The report quoted the firm as saying it would deliver HSPA hardware and software, but didn't reveal the value of the contract.

An Ericsson spokeswoman said the firm would deliver hardware and software for an upgrade of Vodafone's 3G network in the country, the report added.

'Vodafone has selected Ericsson for a national mobile broadband roll-out. We're the primary hardware and software vendor to support this roll-out, which is based on HSPA,' the spokeswoman said, adding the expansion would be completed in December 2008.
