Fixed mobile service for SMEs

Vodafone UK is targeting small and medium enterprises with its new converged fixed and mobile voice service, One Net. Already available through Vodafone operations in Italy and the Czech Republic, the One Net service is hosted by Vodafone and is underpinned with a managed services agreement with BT Wholesale for IP-enabled voice and broadband services.

One Net offers SMEs a single number for landline and mobile phones, one voicemail for all fixed and mobile messages, one contract and a single point of contact to cover all their communications needs. Business customers can switch seamlessly between their mobile and landline phone depending on where they are.

Vodafone claims that One Net could potentially save SMEs up to 20 per cent of their communications costs. Vodafone also says the service could be expanded into a full Unified Communications offering and it already has an agreement with Microsoft to bring in the OCS elements for UC.
