France Telecom unit takes over IPTV firm

Viaccess, a France Telecom subsidiary, signed an agreement to acquire 100% stake in Orca Interactive, an Israeli company listed on AIM London Stock Exchange, for an estimated price of €13.93 million/US$21.4 million.The company said in a statement that completion of the transaction is subject to conditions.

Orca Interactive is a provider of IPTV middleware and applications for broadband network operators and service providers.

It enables operators to deliver broadcast TV, video on demand, personal video recording, home media and other interactive services.

Viaccess also specialises in content protection, with conditional access and DRM solutions deployed in more than 30 countries. In IPTV protection.

Viaccess claims to be the European leader with over 1.2 million active subscribers.
