German government OKs SES acquisition of ND Satcom

July 6, 2006

(Satellite Today via NewsEdge) The German Federal Cartel Office has approved SES Astra's acquisition of satellite communications supplier ND Satcom.

SES Astra announced last May that it would become the sole owner of ND Satcom by acquiring a 74.9% share in the company from German-based August Technologie for 35.6 million euros ($45.5 million).

ND Satcom, based in Friedrichshafen, Germany, provides satellite-based broadband network solutions for government customers, broadcasters and enterprises.

The move should boost SES's position to provide solutions in the government market.
