GlobeCast selects Viaccess for DVB-H trial

GlobeCast, a content management and delivery company for broadcast, has chosen Viaccess' Mobile Broadcast service protection for use in a trial platform.

The solution is based on the OMA BCAST Smartcard profile and the companies say the trial will facilitate the commercial launch of this technology in Europe.

OMA BCAST smartcard profile 1.0 standard was released in January 2009 and is supported by the most handset manufacturers and mobile network operators.

Viaccess claims its Conditional Access System provides better security and security management, reducing SIM management costs for mobile operators. It is compatible with any handset compliant with OMA BCAST Smartcard Profile.
