Some 1,275 new LTE-enabled user devices came onto the market over the past year, increasing the total number of devices by 93 per cent year-on-year to 2,646, according to the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA). The number of LTE device manufacturers more than doubled (108 per cent) to 275 in the same period. Smartphones continue to dominate the device category with 1,395 products launched, representing 52.7 per cent of all LTE device types. Over 98 per cent of LTE smartphones are multimode, capable of operating on at least one 3G technology in addition to the LTE system.
