Huawei wins 3G contract from Vodafone

Huawei Technologies signed a contract for the construction of a UMTS network for Vodafone Czech Republic.

In a statement, Huawei said it will provide a UTRAN system based on the new generation Node B technologies for Vodafone's operations in the Czech Republic.

This marks the beginning of substantial cooperation between these two companies after Huawei was chosen as one of Vodafone's preferred suppliers in November 2005, the firm said.

William Xu, president for Huawei's European Region, who reviewed the two-year long certification and tests conducted by Vodafone on Huawei's mobile network products said, 'Huawei greatly values its strategic cooperation with Vodafone. Huawei will help Vodafone extend its provision of 3G services using leading technologies and innovative solutions.'
