IBM looking to mobile for new revenue

IBM is currently in talks with every significant carrier in Europe to develop technology and applications for mobile devices in the wake of the success of the iPhone and Blackberry.
 
According to a Bloomberg report, IBM is engaged in talks with AT&T , Vodafone Group and France Telecom, among others about online programs and services.
 
IBM head of telecommunications research, Paul Bloom told Bloomberg that IBM was looking at the mobile internet as a new revenue growth engine.
 
The development of sensors in smart phones as a conduit to new applications that could analyze data such as commuter traffic and the creation of platforms for banks for mobile-banking services, are part of the key areas the vendor was researching.
