IDC predicted that worldwide shipments of wearable devices will reach 101.9 million units by the end of 2016, representing 29 per cent growth over 2015. The research company said the market for wearable devices would experience a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20.3 per cent, culminating in 213.6 million units being shipped in 2020. Watches and bands are expected to remain popular, but additional form factors like clothing and eyewear are expected to emerge in future.
