IHS: LTE is fastest-growing broadband access technology in EU

A new report carried out by IHS and VVA Consulting on behalf of the European Commission revealed that LTE is the fastest-growing broadband access technology in terms of coverage in the European Union. LTE coverage increased from 59 per cent in 2013 to 79 per cent in 2014. LTE coverage also recorded the highest growth in rural areas, increasing from about 15 per cent in 2013 to 27 per cent in 2014. The report said that 3 million new households gained access to broadband (both mobile and fixed broadband) in the past year, bringing the total to more than 216 million across the EU. About 15.5 million new households gained access to high-speed next-generation broadband. Report
