IHS: VoLTE users to reach 1B worldwide by 2020

IHS Technology predicted that the global base of voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) users will hit 1 billion by 2020, aided by China Mobile's migration to the technology. The research company, which also used estimates from the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), said there were 185 million VoLTE users in 2015, mostly coming from Japan, South Korea, and the U.S. This number is expected to increase to 310 million by the end of this year. Some 40 commercial VoLTE networks were launched in 2015. In the first four months of 2016, as many VoLTE networks were launched (23) as in the whole of 2014. Report
