Nokia Siemens Networks jumped from the No. 4 to No. 2 position in the LTE equipment market after more than doubling its LTE revenue in the third quarter of this year, according to a new study from Infonetics Research. The performance allowed NSN to significantly close the gap with market leader Ericsson and pass Alcatel-Lucent and Huawei. The findings from Infonetics on the LTE market are consistent with what research firm Dell'Oro Group found last month. "We saw strong LTE activity in the US, Japan and South Korea in the third quarter, contrasted by weak activity in the BRIC countries, for a total 30 per cent uplift in LTE equipment sales worldwide," noted Infonetics Research analyst Stéphane Téral. Overall global LTE infrastructure sales were up 131 per cent year-over-year in the third quarter, according to Infonetics. Release
