That theory got an unintentional boost in the midst of the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti when a filmmaker trapped under the rubble of his hotel was rescued 65 hours later - possibly thanks to his iPhone. Dan Woolley said he used Jive Media's Pocket First Aid & CRP app to figure out how to self-treat his wounds, which included a compound fracture in his leg and a head wound, according to media reports. Also, after learning via the app that falling asleep would be a bad idea if he were in shock, Woolley set his iPhone alarm to go off every 20 minutes, reports The Register.
