Isle of Wight goes wireless

Wightcable, the incumbent cable operator on the Isle of Wight is planning to launch a WiMAX service. The operator has placed a contract with Airspan Networks for MicroMAX 5.8GHz base stations, VoiceMAX for VoIP services and related customer premises equipment (CPE). The WiMAX service will begin in the town of Newport and Wightcable plans to roll out voice and data services across the whole island. The Isle of Wight is a large island located three miles off the southern coast of England.
