KPN earnings rise 5.2% in Q3

Dutch telecommunications company Royal KPN  said third-quarter profit rose 5.2% as growth at the company's mobile telephony operations outweighed an ongoing decline at its fixed line division, an Associated Press report said.

The Associated Press report said KPN's net profit was 346 million euros ($441 million), up from 329 million euros ($419 million), the company said in a statement. Sales increased 3.8% to 3.04 billion euros ($3.87 billion).

'Our mobile businesses have again performed well, outperforming the market, and more than compensated for the challenges faced by the fixed market,' CEO Ad Scheepbouwer was quoted as saying.
