MDC to spend $100m in expansion plan

The Belarus' GSM operator Mobile Digital Communications (MDC) plans to increase its investments 30% this year to over $100 million, the company in a statement said.

Most of the company's investments are spent on the installation of new technologies and buying new equipment, the statement said.

The company's user base increased 65.2% on the year to 1.9 million users as of now, the company said. Its network coverage increased 15% in 2005, MDC said without providing comparisons.

MDC installed 430 base stations in 2005, compared with about 172 base stations installed in 2004, the company said.
