Microsoft forges OSS/BSS partnerships

Microsoft announced two OSS/BSS partnerships at this year's Mobile World Congress, with vendors Convergys and Redknee.

Convergys launched the Convergys Smart Communications Suite, which is powered by Microsoft technology.

The BSS system combines Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 with Convergys' BSS capabilities in a modular, scalable solution, Convergys said.

Meanwhile, Microsoft announced a partnership with Redknee to deliver a real-time OSS/BSS solution.

Microsoft will again provide its Dynamics CRM and SQL Server 2008, as well as other technologies, for the project. The companies are aiming to create an end-to-end solution with a much broader set of capabilities than the existing Redknee Turnkey Converged Billing product.

Another OSS/BSS vendor, MetraTech, announced it had benchmarked its MetraNet software running on SQL Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008.

MetraNet was able to process 84,781 usage records per second, 669 bills per second and 1.2 billion balance updates per hour, MetraTech said.
