Mobile app makes perfect wingman

Pickup lines will be a thing of the past if Sonar hits the big time. Sonar is a mobile application that helps you learn about like-minded people nearby.

Founder Bret Martin says, "It's simple - you open up Sonar and we tell you that the guy sitting across from you is Facebook friends with your college roommate, the dude by the jukebox is a VC that you follow on Twitter, and the cute girl by the bar also likes Arcade Fire and Hemingway."

Techland.time.com reports that Sonar acts as a good party host: introducing you to people in the room who might have something in common with you.

Of course, just like aloof maidens, the app can be turned off at will and you'll be left staring at your Budweiser, leaving alone and left to play World of Warcraft the rest of the evening.
