NEC, Siemens complete HSDPA tests for 3UK

NEC, with its 3G partner Siemens Communications, successfully run the first live implementation of HSDPA on Hutchison 3G UK's network in the UK.

In a statement, NEC said it supplied, installed and tested the HSDPA infrastructure on a live network.

The live pilot, conducted jointly between NEC and 3, had been running for the last two months and had already seen speeds of up to 1.4Mbps.

The pilot would be extended to other areas, including some central London locations, in June. 3 was also planning to implement HSDPA in its commercial network in the second half of 2006, the firm said.
