Cisco and Tata Consultancy Services will establish a new technology lab in Chennai, India, to develop IT solutions for next-generation data centers.

Motorola has been awarded the exclusive rights to sell Radio Frequency over Glass PON solutions developed by Alloptic. The technology promises to allow operators to develop an all-air network, a Motorola spokesperson said. Motorola is lobbying to have RFoG adopted as an industry standard.

US operator Qwest reported a 49% fall in income to $185 million in Q4. The decline was mainly due to tax effects - revenue slumped 3% to $3.32 billion, and the result beat market expectations - the Associated Press said.
