News In Brief: GSMA, NSN, Facebook, Alcatel-Lucent

The GSMA  is establishing standard design guidelines for embedded mobile applications to be launched in November  and has launched a competition to drive development in embedded mobility. The first stage of the competition, will be held at the Mobile Asia Congress in November 2009. The second stage of the competition will showcase innovative service applications and solutions at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2010.
 
Nokia Siemens Networks has secured a EUR 250 million loan facility from the European Investment Bank for the development of its multimode Radio Access network technology. The loan will provide financial support for R&D in Europe to further development in the multiradio technology platform.
 
Facebook has appointed former Genentech CFO David Ebersman as its new CFO replacing Gideon Yu who left unexpectedly earlier this year.
 
Meanwhile former Google product management director Prashant Fuloria has moved across to Facebook to take on the same role.
 
Alcatel-Lucent has signed up the KPN owned E-Plus group as a customer for the newly launched advertising selection server for its mobile advertising offering. The mobile advertising solution is part Alcatel-Lucent´s new suite of digital media and advertising solutions which provide control in the management of mobile advertising campaigns.
