News in brief: Mobile IM in Austria, COLT partners, Spirent on A-GPS

Mobilkom Austria's postpaid brand A1 over IP users instant messaging using Fring's software client. The client will be available from mid November. A1 over IP is based on SIP, like Fring, and already enables customers to use Skype, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, Twitter, Yahoo! and AIM services.

COLT has announced a reseller partnership with IT networking firm, Norisco. Under the terms of the agreement Norisco will provide COLT's portfolio of data, voice and managed services to its customer base of small and medium sized business customers in the UK and across Europe.

Spirent Communications' UMTS Location Test System will provide validation and testing at SGS Wireless laboratory in Cambridge, UK. Spirent claims this will keeps its kit at the forefront of Assisted-GPS (A-GPS) testing, which SGS will use to test A-GPS on handsets globally.
