Nokia faces new patent suit

Finland's Nokia is facing a patent suit filed by US chipmaker Qualcomm, alleging the company had infringed on two Qualcomm patents in Britain, a Reuters report said.

The report said the suit, which covered high-speed wireless technologies that were popular in Europe, was the latest twist in long-standing legal battles between the companies.

It extended a US patent suit Qualcomm, a supplier of wireless chips and technology licenses, filed in November against Nokia, the report said.

Nokia said in a statement that it had not yet received a copy of the complaint and could not comment on the substance of the claims, the report said.

But the company said it would defend itself and did not believe Qualcomm was entitled to any injunction, the report further said.
