Nokia Siemens wins TeliaSonera contract

TeliaSonera has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks to deploy its IP multimedia subsystem (IMS).

TeliaSonera says it plans to offer attractive IP-based services such as VoIP, video calling and instant messaging.

Under the terms of the agreement, Nokia Siemens Networks will deploy a complete IMS solution.

In a statement, TeliaSonera also said it carried out thorough testing of platforms from several major IMS vendors before making its decision, as well as conducted interoperability trials on IMS and SIP with the GSM Association and other leading operators and equipment makers.

The successful evaluations convinced TeliaSonera that new services based on IP, such as video sharing, will function smoothly across networks and national boundaries.
