Nortel wins Spanish rail comms contract

The Spanish national railway infrastructure company ADIF has chosen Nortel to deploy a complete GSM-R radio solution for its new high-speed rail link between Barcelona and Figueres. Under the US$27 million contract Nortel will also be providing operational and maintenance support for the radio system over the next three years. This new GSM-R project by ADIF links the Madrid-Barcelona high-speed line with the Figueres-Perpignan section that crosses the Spanish-French border. The international Figueres-Perpignan high-speed line also has a Nortel supplied GSM-R network.
