Operators see internal fraud as "growing concern"

A new survey by cVidya Networks showed that 85% of respondents said internal fraud is a growing concern for the telecom industry.

“There is a growing risk of and increasing damage from fraud caused by employees and subcontractors”, said Anton Pivala, head of the fraud prevention unit at Kyivstar, Ukraine.

Results also showed that dealer fraud is a major concern in Eastern Europe and that premium rate services fraud is an issue among West European and Asian operators.

The survey covered 180 participants from 60 customers and partners from 35 countries worldwide, including operators like Bell Canada, Orange Group, Telefonica Group, O2 and Vodafone.
