Orange looks to expand into emerging markets

While Vodafone has benefited hugely from its high-risk investments in developing nations, Orange has yet to build any real momentum in tackling these nascent growth markets. But that's all about to change, according to Barbara Dalibard, the head of Orange Business operations.

In an interview with the Financial Times Deutschland, Dalibard said that the Orange Business unit was keen to explore opportunities in emerging markets around the world. "My strategy is to increase our presence in these markets," she said. "We are looking at possible opportunities for entry."

The Orange Business unit claims to have secured a record number of new contracts with international companies in China and Russia, with Dalibard adding that the Middle East was an area of further specific interest.
