Orange m-health: Internal comms hold most promise

Speaking at Informa's Mobile Healthcare Industry Summit, Thierry Zylberberg, exec VP and head of Orange's healthcare division, said that the company's approach to m-health was to develop many new and varied services.

However, in his view, the area of health management--essentially, internal communications for healthcare providers and communication between providers and their patients--offered the most promise.

But 'mobile healthcare', according to Zylberberg, can mean many things. "Mobile services for healthcare go beyond distributing Blackberries among nurses or sending SMS appointment reminders. They include new innovative products such as a digital pen, which records and transmits data as it is written on paper, or diagnosis-aiding mobile functions such as using a camera-enabled phone to assess wounds remotely."
