France Telecom’s managed services division is now handling communications for eight of the world’s top ten container shipping companies, through a deal with Israel-headquartered ZIM.
Orange Business Services is supplying optimized routing, business continuity and backup, unified communications and cloud computing services to ZIM, as part of an MPLS network rationalization scheme by the shipping firm. ZIM is utilizing the services on its fleet of 100 container ships and 6,000 employees.
“We were looking for a reliable, transparent business communications partner, not simply a network services provider,” explains Dudi Avni, chief information officer at ZIM.
Helmut Reisinger, senior vice president, Orange Business Services Europe, says the services supplied to ZIM “improves round-trip delay and ensures superior site availability.”
