Quirky utilities strategy wins telco 300K subs

Forget offering subscribers combined phone and broadband tariffs to boost loyalty. How about gas and electricity instead?

UK-based Telecom Plus is offering those utility services alongside its fixed-line telecoms offerings in a bid to entice customers already considering switching energy suppliers.

The firm, which trades under the name Utility Warehouse, states it supplies services to 300,000 UK homes, but never advertises , Energyhelpline.com reports.

The strategy seems to be paying off, with the firm recording compound annual growth of 30%-40% in the past 18 months.
