Report: Global LTE traffic growth to exceed 200% in 2013

Global LTE data traffic is accelerating, and is expected to increase by 207 per cent in 2013 compared to 99 per cent growth for 3G traffic, according to a new report from ABI Research. The research firm said that total mobile data traffic had amounted to 13,412 petabytes by the end of 2012, an increase of 69 percent year-on-year, and that 3G data usage occupied 46 percent of the total, with an increase of 130 percent year-on-year. "In developed markets, 4G is rapidly gaining traction. Verizon Wireless, for example, has reported that 50 percent of its data usage is on 4G LTE," said ABI analyst Marina Lu. Release
