Report: M-payment market to soar in Central & Eastern Europe

The value of the m-payment market in Central and Eastern Europe reached nearly €300 million last year, but a new report from Frost & Sullivan claims that this will rocket to €22.7 billion by the end of 2017. This sudden upsurge in m-payment growth will be driven by a new realisation among operators and banks that consumers in this region are ready and willing to adopt and use m-payment services, the report said. "Mobile phones in Central & Eastern Europe are gradually becoming information and education centres, with the number of applications on them constantly expanding," Frost & Sullivan analyst Edyta Kosowska said in a statement. "Starting to use the mobile phone as a wallet is only a matter of time." Release
