Report: Mobile ticketing to quadruple by 2016 as m-wallets take hold

The number of mobile tickets delivered to handsets worldwide will more than quadruple to 23 billion by 2016, according to new report from Juniper Research, compared with the 4 billion tickets estimated to be delivered during 2011. The report found that m-ticketing, which is beginning to be adopted by mobile users, solves key problems fore operators, whether in the transport or events markets. Juniper found the ability to sell and deliver tickets through the mobile channel without the need for extra staff or ticket offices had a significant impact on a facility operator's profitability, especially as user numbers are continually increasing and support costs are minimal.
