Report: NFC will drive 74B in transactions by 2015

A new study by Juniper Research forecasts that Near Field Communications technology will facilitate transactions valued at $74 billion by 2015 as NFC is increasingly used for the payment of goods in-store and as transport tickets; this is over treble the estimated value of this market in 2011. Juniper anticipates NFC-enabled devices will emerge as a growing alternative, although all segments of the market--including money transfers, banking and coupons--are expected to exhibit significant growth rates. The report stressed that stressed that mobile commerce providers need to keep security issues in mind to avoid setting back the market through a lack of user trust. Release
