Belgian financial daily newspaper De Tijd reports that, according to sources, national operator Belgacom is casting acquisitive eyes towards Luxembourg's Tele2Tango, a division of Tele2 AB. Although the sources did not name other potential suitors, De Tijd highlights Dutch telecoms group KPN as a logical candidate. With 238,000 subscribers Tele2Tango is Luxembourg's second largest mobile operator. Luxembourg has been a target for Belgacom for some time, the Belgian operator was one of several potential purchasers of the country's third mobile operator VOXmobile but was beaten to the punch by rival Mobistar.
