Samsung plans to upgrade chip production lines

Samsung, the world's biggest maker of memory chips, would invest 938.8 billion won ($1.01 billion) to upgrade its memory chip production lines, a Reuters report said.

The Reuters report, quoting a Samsung statement, said the spending will be made during 2007 to refine its memory chip production process and boost productivity.

Samsung, in the filing to the Korea Exchange, however did not provide other details, the Reuters report said.
