SingTel, Ericsson team up on high-speed broadband trial

SingTel recently signed a deal with Ericsson to test a new, high-speed broadband service delivered over existing copper lines in Singapore, a statement from the two firms said.

The statement said Ericsson would deliver the "ultra-high speed" fixed broadband trial network to SingTel based on Ericsson's EDA VDSL2 broadband technology.

This would make SingTel the first operator in Southeast Asia to deploy VDSL2 broadband technology in its network, providing access speed of up to 100Mbps on copper, powered by Ericsson's VDSL2 equipment and solutions, the statement said.

The service is also seen allowing SingTel to deliver large-scale deployment of triple play services.
