SingTel's fiscal second quarter net profit rose 3.3% from a year ago on contributions from regional mobile associates and operations in Singapore and Australia, an Associated Press report said.
The Associated Press report said net profit for the July-September quarter came in at S$988 million ($684 million), up from S$956 million in the same quarter last year, according to a SingTel statement.
Operating revenue was at S$3.69 billion ($2.55 billion), up 10.9% from S$3.33 billion previously, the report said.
In Australia, SingTel said its Optus subsidiary saw revenue rise 3.7% in the quarter to A$1.93 billion ($1.8 billion), the report said.
SingTel said post-tax profit from regional associates rose 21% to S$477 million ($330 million) on the back of strong subscriber growth, especially in India.
Underlying net profit, which strips out exceptional items, rose to S$914 million ($633 million) from S$815 million a year ago.
