Smart Telecom to offer IPTV in April

Ireland-based telco Smart Telecom has revealed plans to carry out a so-called soft launch of its new IPTV service next month in locations close to the 37 unbundled exchanges where it currently offers broadband.

The new service will offer over 100 TV and radio channels to a footprint of 550,000 homes across the country.Features are expected to include time shifting and the display of incoming telephone calls on the TV set.

The telco also announced the national roll-out of its high-speed symmetrical business broadband packages for the SME and corporate markets with no usage limits last Wednesday. The new packages will be available to business customers throughout the 37 Smart Telecom exchanges in Dublin, Cork, Donegal, Galway, Laois, Limerick, Louth, Sligo and Waterford.
