Sol's top-secret Windows phone stolen at MWC

Telstra CEO Sol Trujillo's mobile phone, which runs on a top-secret beta version of Windows Mobile 6.5, has been stolen in Barcelona by a pickpocket.

This has sparked fears that details of the latest version of Microsoft's new mobile OS could be leaked before its launch, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Trujillo had taken the handset to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but at the time it was stolen the phone was in the possession of another Telstra executive, a Telstra spokesperson said. The executive has not been named.

But Microsoft has played down the implications of the theft, the Herald said, stating that a single leak will not be too damaging.

The first Windows Mobile 6.5 handsets should hit the market by mid-year.
