Strategy Analytics: Apple Watch market share slips to 52%

Strategy Analytics said global smart watch shipments increased by 223 per cent annually to reach 4.2 million units in the first quarter of 2016. Apple captured a 52 per cent global smart watch market share, dipping from 63 per cent in the prior quarter. The research company noted that global smart watch growth is being driven by consumer demand for Apple, Android Wear and Tizen models across North America, Western Europe, and Asia. On a sequential basis, global smart watch shipments fell 48 per cent from 8.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2015 to 4.2 million in the first quarter of 2016, due to seasonal trends. Report
