Tele2 moves on Austrian business ISP

Swedish carrier Tele2’s Austrian division is boosting its business-to-business credentials with the acquisition of domestic ISP Silver Server.

The operator is shelling out 110 million Swedish krona (€11.9 million) for the ISP in a move it claims will also boost its position as the leading alternative telecoms provider in Austria.

Silver Server specializes in providing Web access to business customers, and generated EBITDA of 20 million Swedish krona in 2010. The ISP reportedly has 8,000 customers in Austria, and is tipped to generated revenue of €11.5 million in 2011.

Tele2 is now awaiting the thumbs up from Austrian competition authorities to complete the deal.
