Telecoms tops global ad spending growth
The telecoms market is poised to rise up the rankings of global advertising spend by industry, after experiencing the greatest growth in spending in 2012.
Research by Nielsen shows spending by the telecoms industry grew 7% year-on-year in 2012, taking over the mantle from previous table toppers including healthcare and durables, which both saw spending fall.
However, despite enjoying the largest growth in ad spending during 2012, telecoms currently sits seventh in the list of eleven industries tracked in Nielsen’s quarterly analysis. The firm predicts the situation will change in 2013, buoyed by double-digit growth in ad spend in the Middle East and Africa, and Latin American markets.
