Telenor subs get Google Play direct pay option

Telenor is claiming its second ‘Norwegian first’ in the space of a week, after enabling its mobile customers in the country to pay for Google apps directly.

The telco’s mobile service and Digital Services division are collaborating on the payment option, which Telenor claims makes it easier for mobile users to download and pay for Google Play apps by allowing them to pay for the apps straight from their mobile account.

Stein-Erik Vellan, leader of Telenor Norway’s mobile division, says the firm is also simplifying subscribers’ access to their mobile phone bill, contacts, coverage information, and new apps by providing access “under the Telenor logo in Google Play.”

The news comes a few days after Telenor claimed to be the first in Norway to offer high definition voice, after employing noise cancelling technology to its 3G network.
