TI ranks top of mobile internet device chip makers

Texas Instruments (TI) is the top ranking mobile internet device (MID) vendor in terms of both innovation and implementation in a new report published yesterday.

The US-based company has claimed the top spot in the latest Vendor Matrix released by market research firm ABI, with Qualcomm and Intel claiming second and third place respectively.

Companies were rated on both innovation and implementation. ABI research examined the speed in which vendors can bring products to market; the flexibility of their solutions.

Other contributors included processor speed and whether devices support all PC operating systems, or features such as 720p video.
