Vodafone's Colao begins to turn the corner

Vodafone CEO Vittorio Colao is starting out 2011 with a bit more cheer than last year, and investors are hoping that the steps he has taken to run Vodafone around will continue this year. The operator has sold its stake in some Asian assets and has focused on improving its core European business. This year, investors are hopeful that Colao will finalize the sale of its 44 per cent stake in the French operator SFR, as well as finally resolve an impasse over dividend payments from Verizon Wireless.
