ZTE powers Telkomsel LTE trial

Telkomsel, Indonesia's largest mobile operator, has signed ZTE to supply equipment for an LTE trial.

ZTE, which already supplies 3G gear to Telkomsel, said it would provide an SDR solution to allow for a smooth upgrade from 2G and 3G, after working on the project since August.

The Chinese vendor’s LTE team, which has 4,000 R&D staff, has now won seven commercial LTE network contracts and supplied more than 50 trial networks worldwide, recently winning a GSM/3G/LTE deal with Telenor Hungary.

One of its key Asian customers, Hong Kong CSL, aims to launch a dual-cell HSPA+/LTE service in late 2010 or early 2011, a spokesperson told telecomasia.net.
