Why it's Fierce: Most consumers have no idea how to use the new phone they have purchased until they get the handset home. DeviceAnywhere, formerly known as Mobile Complete, wants to fix that with their virtualization software and growing database of phones, which they host at Tryphone.com. DeviceAnywhere uses the virtualization software to allow handset makers and carriers test wireless services and handsets for bugs, but the startup saw an opportunity to upload the virtual handsets online too. The virtual handsets can be compared side-by-side and are even embeddable and fully functional from end users' blogs. The virtual handsets are also available to mobile developers looking to test their wares on 1,000 actual devices running on live networks all over the world.
What to look for: Currently, Tryphone.com has a little more than a dozen virtualized handsets online, but watch out for more handsets in the coming months.
